Who This Course Is For

It’s ideal for:

  • Interior Designers who want to present ideas clearly and professionally through hand sketching.

  • Design Students looking to strengthen their portfolios and master perspective drawing.

  • Creative Professionals seeking to add a timeless, artistic skill to their design workflow.

This course is designed for interior design professionals and students who wish to deepen their creative practice through the art of hand sketching. Whether you are refining your professional craft or discovering the joy of drawing for the first time, this course offers a structured yet inspiring environment to help you master interior sketching with clarity, purpose, and artistry.

Why I Created This Course

“When designers learn to draw, they start to see — not only their spaces, but themselves, differently.”

Since December 2014, I’ve been teaching interior sketching (both online and in-person). I created this course because I truly believe that hand sketching belongs at the heart of interior design practice.

Sketching is not just about technique — it’s a way of thinking. When we draw, we slow down enough to truly observe, analyze, and generate ideas. Hand drawing engages both sides of the brain, stimulating creativity and deeper understanding.

Unlike digital CAD renderings or polished 3D visualizations, a sketch leaves room for imagination. Its suggestive, unfinished quality invites the viewer, whether a client, teacher, or collaborator, to engage emotionally and mentally.

In my experience as an interior designer, when clients see a perfect 3D render, their imagination often stops there; they believe the final result must look exactly like that image. But when they see a hand sketch... expressive, intuitive, and alive — it awakens their imagination. They begin to feel the atmosphere, not just see the space.

Hand sketching is also invaluable in the earliest stages of a design project. When meeting a client, a quick, spontaneous sketch can become the bridge between conversation and concept. As ideas emerge, you can visualize them immediately on paper, and in that moment, your client becomes a co-creator of the design. This shared process builds trust, engagement, and excitement.

Over the years of teaching, I’ve met hundreds of interior designers who told me that once they learned to draw, to express their ideas freely on paper, something inside them changed. Many described feeling like real designers for the first time. Before, they relied only on software and felt something missing, a kind of professional gap, an inner hesitation. But after learning sketching, they spoke differently with their clients, with more confidence and pride. They said they finally felt like artists, the kind of professionals their clients expected them to be.

And that’s the power of sketching. It doesn’t just transform your drawings — it transforms how you see yourself as a designer.

This course was born from that belief: to bring sketching back into interior design, where it belongs, as a timeless tool for creativity, communication, and genuine human connection.

“Sketching is a foundational skill for interior designers and architects — it allows us to translate ideas from imagination to paper with immediacy and clarity, bridging the gap between concept and reality.”
Olga Sorokina

Origins

About the Course

From University Classrooms to a Global Online Program

This course was originally developed and refined through live training at the university level, where I taught interior designers the fundamentals of sketching and perspective drawing. Over the years, the program was tested and perfected with hundreds of interior designers, both professionals pursuing continuous education and students beginning their design journey.

Now, this academic foundation has evolved into a carefully structured five-week online program, designed to give you the same depth, clarity, and results as my live teaching.

The Value of Professional Training: Online and Affordable

Did you know?

  • A live, university-level interior sketching course can cost $1,200–$2,500 for a short program or workshop.

  • With BASE, you get the same professional-level training, tested with hundreds of students, online and at your own pace, for just $448.

That’s expert instruction, structured lessons, and step-by-step guidance, all without leaving your home.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe in learning by doing. In BASE, every lesson is designed to guide you step by step, building your skills, confidence, and creative voice. With structured practice, clear instruction, and hands-on guidance, you’ll master perspective drawing and hand sketching, turning ideas into professional-quality interior sketches, even if you’ve never drawn before.

How You’ll Learn

You’ll learn through pre-recorded, step-by-step video lessons, filmed with the camera focused directly on my hands as I draw. This lets you see every line, technique, and decision in real time, just like sitting beside me in a live class.

Follow-Along Method

You can follow along at your own pace:

  • Watch each lesson once to understand the process.

  • Then re-watch and draw along with me, step by step.

  • Pause, rewind, or slow down anytime to practice comfortably.

This follow-along method helps you learn through doing — building skill, confidence, and creative flow with every sketch.

A Self-Paced Learning Experience

BASE is a self-paced online program that lets you learn at your own rhythm and revisit lessons anytime. Delivered in an asynchronous format, it allows you to study whenever and wherever you like, all you need is an internet connection.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning to sketching after years in practice, BASE will guide you through the fundamentals and beyond — all the way to confident, professional interior drawings.

The course supports both Metric and Imperial systems, so no matter where you are in the world, inches or centimeters, all exercises are tailored for accuracy and accessibility.

                  Transformation

                  Before & After Sketches

See how BASE students transformed: from uncertain lines to confident, expressive drawings.

Before joining BASE, they struggled with perspective, proportions, and composition. After completing the course, their sketches truly speak for themselves — full of clarity, depth, and artistic confidence.

Today, these three students work as professional sketch artists, collaborating with designers and studios worldwide. Maybe, just like for them, BASE will become that turning point, the moment you rediscover your confidence, creativity, and the joy of drawing again.

"These lessons were possibly the best part of the week!

As a designer I learned how to sketch at school but unfortunately never really developed the skill… So Olga's course was a great way to brush up on the principles of perspective and along the way I also picked up a whole suitcase of tricks on how to make my sketches look really professional!

The course is fun, easy to follow, extremely well organised and after each lesson I felt like I made a whole lot of progress! And the price is so reasonable!"

"Some time ago I stumbled upon Olga’s profile on Instagram. I was instantly taken by her ability to make design ideas come to life with her vivid and detailed sketches.

It is some of the best money I’ve ever spent. Olga is a splendid educator, and I am so pleased with the results I get.

The lessons are well structured, easy to follow, and you will quickly get nice results. She really loves sketching, and her passion goes into her teaching so you can’t help to get smitten by her enthusiasm. I know, that my sketching skills are not yet close to Olga’s level, but I will satisfy for less, and by the help of Olga and her online course, I know, I will get there.

I hope she will develop more of her courses in English, so I can continue evolving my sketching skills. If you would like to develop or improve your sketching skills I can only say, that by Olga’s help you can’t avoid improving your sketching."

                  • 1 black liner or gel pen (waterproof fineliner or black ink pen)

                  • 7 markers total:

                    • 5 coloured markers: beige or light brown, dark brown, olive, deep red, deep blue

                  Maximum Starter Kit

To get the most out of this program and achieve high-quality sketching results, please prepare the following materials.
I’ve included examples and links (Amazon) for your convenience.

                  1. Markers & Paper

Use alcohol-based markers such as Copic, Molotow, Winsor & Newton ProMarker, Zig, Chartpak, Stylefile, or TOUCH.
Any professional marker brand will work well for this course.

For paper, ideally choose marker paper (A4 or Letter size, minimum 70 g/m²). This lightweight paper helps preserve pigment and makes blending smoother.

                  Example: Canson Marker Pad.

Tip: Regular office paper can also be used for practice sketches.

                  2. Grey Markers

Ideally, prepare three shades of grey:

                  • Light — e.g. #2 (Example: Warm Grey #2, Chartpak)

Note: Please keep in mind that Chartpak markers have very strong solvent smell, avoid them if you are sensitive. Copic markers, for instance, don't have strong smell.

                  • Medium — e.g. #4 (Example: Copic Warm Grey #4)

                  • Dark — e.g. #6 (Example: Copic Neutral Grey #6)

                  Recommended sets:

You can buy grey markers in sets:

                  3. Coloured Markers

At minimum, have these five essential colours ready:

                  • Beige / Sand / Light Brown (e.g. Potato Brown, TOUCH)

                  • Dark Brown / Chocolate

                  • Olive Green

                  • Deep Red

                  • Deep Blue

Recommended set: Copic Marker 12-Piece Set — Architecture Colours.

                  4. Highlighting Tools

                  5. Linework Tools

                  6. Architect’s Scale Ruler (Optional)

For those who prefer precise technical accuracy, an architect’s scale ruler can be helpful for drawing to scale.
If you don’t have one, a regular ruler will work perfectly fine for all exercises.
                  Example: Architect’s Scale Ruler (Inches).

Tip: You don’t need to buy everything at once — start with what you already have and gradually expand your toolkit as you move through the lessons.

How Your Drawing Skills Will Transform After This Course

Through this comprehensive step-by-step program, complete with follow-along video tutorials, you will build a strong foundation in Interior Sketching with Markers and Perspective Drawing for Interior Design — all in just five weeks of self-paced learning (if you accomplish one core lesson per week).

By the end of the course, you will:

You’ll receive lifetime access to all course materials (including any new updates). After enrolling, you can revisit the lessons anytime, across all your devices — for as long as you wish.

Absolutely! BASE is designed for both beginners and design professionals who want to develop or refresh their hand-drawing skills.
You don’t need any prior experience — the course starts from the very basics and gradually builds your confidence through clear, step-by-step lessons. By the end, you’ll be amazed at how naturally sketching becomes part of your design process.

I still have a question, how can I ask it?
